Before Jim Staska died, he sent the following poem to his friends and relatives. He knew he did not have much longer to live and wanted to give solace to those he left behind.

FOR THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

Death is not the extinguishing of the light,
it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.

When I'm gone, release me, let me go,
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears,
be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love.
You can only guess how much
you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you have shown
but now it's time I travel on alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
so bless the memories with your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call, I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
all of my love around you soft and clear.

An then when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile, and welcome home.


I saw Jim quite often since his brother George married the sister of my first wife, Linda Rozek.   Jim had a very infectious laugh and sometimes went into almost an uncontrollable laughing spell.  I never new Jim to say a malicious word about anyone and he handled some onerous times with great humor and patience.

The list above of deceased classmates was updated on Feb. 13, 2012.  Over time, I would like to add a brief narrative for each along with their class picture.  I can get the picture from the yearbook, but I must rely on other classmates or family members for the information for the narrative.  Any interesting stories, remembrances or noteworthy information would be much appreciated.  Once received, I will post along with the picture.  Thanks all you for your help.
